Do ElevenLabs Credits Reset? When They Refresh and What Rolls Over

Do ElevenLabs credits reset? Yes. On every paid ElevenLabs plan, your credit quota resets once a month on your billing date, after that month’s payment is processed. Unused credits don’t vanish: up to twice your monthly quota rolls over, so your balance can reach three times your plan’s allowance. The free plan resets monthly with no rollover at all. Downgrade or cancel, and unused subscription credits are lost at the end of the cycle.

Checked against the ElevenLabs help center, billing docs and pricing page on November 7, 2026. Level of use: researched, from ElevenLabs’ own documentation, not a paid account we run.

Do ElevenLabs credits reset? The rules in 30 seconds

  • When: monthly, on the day you subscribed, after payment goes through.
  • Annual plans: still refresh monthly. Only Enterprise can take one yearly allocation.
  • Rollover: up to 2x your monthly quota carries over; 3x is the ceiling.
  • Free plan: 10,000 credits a month, no rollover.
  • Downgrade or cancel: unused subscription credits are lost when the change takes effect.
  • Pay As You Go top-ups: outside the reset, valid 12 months.

When do ElevenLabs credits reset?

Your reset date is your billing date. ElevenLabs’ help article “When do my credits reset?” says credits reset after the payment for your subscription is successfully processed, and that your subscription renews on the same day each month at around the time you first signed up. Subscribe on the 14th and your credits refresh around the 14th of every month.

Two small details from the same article. The new balance can take a short time to appear after payment. And if you signed up on a day that doesn’t exist in every month, such as the 31st, renewal falls on the last available day of the shorter months.

To find your date, open Subscription from your profile menu in ElevenLabs. The renewal date shown there is your reset date.

How often do ElevenLabs credits reset on annual plans?

Do ElevenLabs credits reset monthly even if you pay yearly? Yes. ElevenLabs’ billing docs say that on self-serve plans your credits reset each month, including annual ones. You pay once a year, but the quota still refreshes monthly, with the same rollover rules.

Enterprise is the exception. Enterprise annual plans can receive a yearly credit allocation upfront that resets once a year, or choose monthly resets instead.

How much rolls over

When a cycle ends with credits left, ElevenLabs’ credit rollover article says you automatically roll over up to twice your usual monthly quota. Add the fresh allowance and the ceiling is three times the plan size. It applies to Starter, Creator, Pro, Scale and Business.

PlanPrice per monthMonthly creditsMaximum balanceAbout
Free$010,00010,000 (no rollover)~10 min
Starter$630,00090,000~90 min banked
Creator$22121,000363,000~6 hours banked
Pro$99600,0001,800,000~30 hours banked
Scale$2991,800,0005,400,000~90 hours banked
Business$9906,000,00018,000,000~300 hours banked

Prices and credits from elevenlabs.io/pricing, November 7, 2026. Minute figures use ElevenLabs’ own estimate of about 1,000 credits per minute of text to speech; other products use credits at different rates.

So the full answer to “do ElevenLabs credits reset?” is: yes, but only part of the balance starts from zero. Rollover has one condition: you stay on the same plan. That’s where most people lose credits without noticing.

Calculating banked balance to answer do ElevenLabs credits reset or roll over
Three times your plan is the most you can hold at once.

A worked example: three months on Creator

Here’s how the balance moves for a Creator subscriber who renews on the 14th.

CycleStarting balanceUsedLeft overRolls into next cycle
Sep 14 to Oct 13121,00040,00081,00081,000
Oct 14 to Nov 13202,00030,000172,000172,000
Nov 14 to Dec 13293,000280,00013,00013,000

Do ElevenLabs credits reset to the plan allowance at each renewal in this example? No. Two quiet months built a buffer that covered a launch month more than twice the plan size, with no upgrade and no top-up. If the subscriber had kept saving, the balance would have stopped growing at 363,000; anything beyond that is lost at reset.

This is why ElevenLabs’ rollover matters more than its headline credit count. Our ElevenLabs vs Murf comparison shows how the same lumpy year costs three times more on a plan whose minutes expire.

Do free ElevenLabs credits reset?

Yes, every month, but nothing carries over. The free plan gives 10,000 credits, about 10 minutes of speech, and whatever you don’t spend before the next reset is gone. The rollover article says plainly that rollover doesn’t apply to accounts on the free tier.

If you use the free plan to test voices, spend the allowance before it refreshes. Holding it back doesn’t build a balance. And remember the free plan isn’t licensed for commercial use; Starter at $6 adds the license.

Do ElevenLabs credits reset when you upgrade or downgrade?

Three plan changes affect your credits, and only one is bad news.

  • Downgrading or cancelling. The change takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle (or annual cycle, on yearly plans), and unused subscription credits are lost at that point. A Creator account holding 300,000 banked credits loses all of them by stepping down to Starter.
  • Upgrading. ElevenLabs’ billing docs say unused quota from your previous plan rolls over to the new one.
  • Switching from monthly to annual. The annual subscription starts immediately and resets your billing cycle, and unused credits are added to the first month’s quota.
Spend down before you step down

If you have a large banked balance and plan to downgrade, generate what you can before the cycle ends. Nothing in the interface prompts you to do this. It’s the most common complaint in negative reviews, and our ElevenLabs review calls it the single most expensive rule on the platform.

What happens when you run out of credits

This depends on when you subscribed. For new subscriptions, ElevenLabs’ help center says you can buy Pay As You Go credits, which are used once your monthly quota runs out and last for 12 months. The pricing page lists extra usage at roughly $0.20 a minute on Starter, $0.18 on Creator and $0.17 on Pro and above.

Older (legacy) Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans, and Enterprise, use usage-based billing instead: a fixed price per extra 1,000 credits, switched on with a toggle on the Subscription page, with a cap you set yourself or “Unlimited”. Charges normally land at the end of the cycle, but if they exceed twice your monthly fee they’re billed immediately. The billing docs say usage-based billing isn’t available on new self-serve subscriptions.

There’s no unlimited-credit ElevenLabs plan. “Unlimited” on the usage-based toggle just means no spending cap.

Pay As You Go credits follow different rules

Credits you buy through Pay As You Go sit outside the monthly reset. They don’t roll over because they don’t need to: they last 12 months from purchase, and they’re used only after your monthly quota is gone.

One catch from the billing docs: ElevenLabs stores Pay As You Go balances as a dollar value, not a credit count. Change plans and the balance is converted at your new plan’s rate, so the number of credits you see can go up or down. Pay As You Go isn’t available on Enterprise or legacy subscriptions.

How ElevenLabs’ rollover compares with other AI tools

Do ElevenLabs credits reset more generously than rival tools? Mostly, yes. Credits that carry over are less common than you’d think. Here’s what we found on vendor pages this week for tools we cover.

Three mistakes people make about ElevenLabs credit resets

Assuming the 1st of the month. People plan a big project for the 1st expecting fresh credits, then find their reset is on the 23rd. Check the Subscription page once and put the date in your calendar.

Upgrading for a one-off spike. If one month in four runs over, the rollover from the quiet months may already cover it. Upgrading for a spike, then downgrading afterwards, is the move that loses banked credits.

Hoarding free credits. Free-plan credits don’t build up. If you’re testing voices before buying, use the full 10,000 each month.

So do ElevenLabs credits reset in a way that can surprise you? Only if you change plans without looking at your balance first.

Bookmark this table. Most questions about whether ElevenLabs credits reset, roll over or disappear are one of these seven rows.

How to check your balance and reset date

  1. Sign in to ElevenLabs and open your profile menu.
  2. Choose Subscription. Your plan, remaining credits and renewal date are shown there.
  3. On a legacy plan, look for the usage-based billing toggle and the spending cap under Manage Subscription.
  4. Before any downgrade, compare your remaining credits with what you still need to generate this cycle.

How to pick a plan around the reset

  1. Don’t size your plan to your busiest month. Look at your last three or four months. If only one went over, rollover probably covered it.
  2. Spend down before downgrading. Banked credits don’t survive the switch.
  3. Upgrade on purpose. Your unused quota comes with you.
  4. Use the free plan or lose it. No rollover there.
  5. Top up for one-off spikes. Pay As You Go credits last 12 months, longer than any monthly cycle.

When this doesn’t apply to you

For some readers, whether ElevenLabs credits reset doesn’t matter at all. If you only need a few minutes of audio a month for personal projects, none of this matters: the free plan resets every month and costs nothing, and we earn nothing from that. If you’re on a legacy plan from before Pay As You Go existed, the usage-based billing rules above apply instead of top-ups, so check your Subscription page before assuming.

Questions about ElevenLabs credit resets

Do ElevenLabs credits reset on the 1st of the month?

No. ElevenLabs credits reset on your billing date, which is the day of the month you subscribed, after that month’s payment is processed. Subscribe on the 14th and they refresh around the 14th. If you signed up on the 31st, shorter months renew on their last day. Check the renewal date on your Subscription page to see yours, and expect a short delay before the new balance appears.

When do ElevenLabs free credits reset?

Monthly, on the same day of the month you created the account, like paid plans. The free plan gives 10,000 credits, about 10 minutes of speech, and unused free credits don’t roll over: ElevenLabs’ help center says rollover doesn’t apply to free-tier accounts. Spend the free allowance before it refreshes, because saving it doesn’t build a balance. Free credits also don’t come with a commercial license.

Do unused ElevenLabs credits expire?

On paid plans, not straight away. Up to twice your monthly quota rolls into the next cycle, and anything beyond the three-times ceiling is lost at reset. Unused subscription credits are also lost when a downgrade or cancellation takes effect. On the free plan, unused credits expire at every reset. Pay As You Go credits you buy separately last 12 months from purchase.

Do credits reset monthly on an ElevenLabs annual plan?

Yes. ElevenLabs’ billing docs say self-serve plans reset credits every month, including annual subscriptions, with the same rollover rules, so up to twice the monthly quota can carry into the next month. You pay once a year but get a fresh monthly quota. Only Enterprise customers can take a single yearly credit allocation upfront that resets annually, and they can choose monthly resets instead if they prefer.

How do I top up ElevenLabs credits?

On subscriptions started under the current pricing, buy Pay As You Go credits. They’re used after your monthly quota runs out and last 12 months. ElevenLabs stores them as a dollar value, converted at your plan’s rate, so the credit count can change if you switch plans. Legacy Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans instead use usage-based billing, enabled with a toggle on the Subscription page with a spending cap you choose.

What happens to my credits if I cancel ElevenLabs?

Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing cycle, or the annual cycle on yearly plans. After that the account moves to the free plan and unused subscription credits are lost, including any banked through rollover. Generate what you need before the cancellation takes effect. Pay As You Go credits bought separately keep their own 12-month expiry rather than following the subscription.
