This policy explains what data AiStackCorner collects, why, and what you can do about it. It’s written to be read rather than to be impressive.
Who we are
AiStackCorner is a software review site operated by Andreu. Contact: hello@aistackcorner.com
The site is hosted by Hostinger, whose servers process requests to aistackcorner.com and keep standard server logs.
The short version
We run one analytics tool, and only after you agree to it. We use affiliate links, and clicking one records that the click happened. We don’t have a newsletter, a contact form, or user accounts. We don’t sell data to anyone, and there is no advertising network on this site.
What we collect, and when
Nothing that identifies you, until you consent to analytics. Our cookie banner blocks Google Analytics until you accept. Decline and no analytics cookies are set.
If you accept analytics. Google Analytics 4 records pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and how long you stayed. Google processes this on our behalf. Event-level data is retained for 14 months and then deleted.
When you click an affiliate link. Links on this site in the form aistackcorner.com/go/... pass through our own link manager before redirecting to the vendor. That process records the click, the page it came from, your IP address, and your browser and device type, so we can see which recommendations people find useful. It does not record who you are.
Third-party cookies from vendors. After the redirect, the vendor’s own site may set a cookie to attribute a later purchase to us. That cookie belongs to them and is covered by their privacy policy, not this one. Typical lifetimes in this category range from 30 to 90 days.
Server logs. Our host records IP addresses and requests as part of normal operation and security. We don’t use these for analytics.
What we don’t do
We don’t run advertising or ad-tracking networks. We don’t have a newsletter, so we don’t hold email addresses unless you write to us. Comments are disabled site-wide. We don’t create profiles of individual readers, and we don’t sell, rent or trade data.
We don’t use analytics data to decide what to recommend. Which tool a page recommends is an editorial decision, explained on our methodology page.
Cookies
The full list, including names and lifetimes, is on our Cookie Policy page, kept current automatically.
In summary: functional cookies that remember your consent choice, analytics cookies from Google Analytics if you accept them, and affiliate attribution cookies set by vendors after you click through to them.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer, and you can clear cookies through your browser at any point.
Who else sees your data
- Google (Google Analytics), if you consent. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Hostinger, our hosting provider, which processes requests and logs.
- Automattic, if an author avatar loads from Gravatar, which involves a request to their servers.
- Affiliate vendors, once you click through to them. From that moment you are on their site under their terms.
We don’t share data with anyone else.
International transfers
Google and Automattic are US-based and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the relevant safeguards those companies maintain, including standard contractual clauses and their participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal basis, if you’re in the EU or UK
Consent for analytics. You give it through the banner and can withdraw it at any time.
Legitimate interest for server logs and affiliate click records, which are necessary to run the site securely and to be paid for it. You can object using the contact address below.
Your rights
If you’re in the EU, UK, California or another jurisdiction with equivalent law, you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- give you a copy in a portable format
- stop processing it
- withdraw consent you previously gave
Email hello@aistackcorner.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. Given that we hold almost nothing that identifies an individual reader, most requests are answered quickly.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to your data protection authority. In Spain that’s the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos. In the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
How long we keep things
- Analytics: 14 months, then automatically deleted by Google.
- Affiliate click records: 12 months.
- Server logs: as determined by our host’s retention schedule.
- Emails you send us: until the matter is resolved, then deleted.
Children
This site is aimed at people buying software for work. It isn’t directed at children and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we add a service that processes data, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in the cookie banner, which will ask for your consent again.
